The first ship will replace the build slot of the third regular Seaside class vessel which was on order. The main changes include an increased length of 16 meters, a major transformation of the aft area and an expansion of the Yacht Club. But also, the relocation of the specialty restaurants to deck 8 with splendid views of the promenade and the return to a single buffet on the lido deck.

After that, the ship will head to the U.S., where she will homeport in Miami and offer seven-night eastern Caribbean, western Caribbean, and Bahamas itineraries — including stops at MSC’s private island, Ocean Cay. Spanning four of the coveted foredecks of the ship, the MSC Yacht Club on MSC Seashore will be the largest and most luxurious in the MSC Cruises fleet, with over 32,000 square feet of space. Though the ship is designed for warmer weather, the Jungle Pool will feature a larger magrodome that can be closed to create an indoor pool area when there’s inclement weather. The area has been enlarged, and now includes an additional deck over and around the space, providing new areas for lounging.

We sailed on the tail end of Seascape's transatlantic maiden voyage -- a short segment from Bermuda to New York City -- on the way to the ship's naming ceremony in the Big Apple. Cruise Lines International Association predicts passenger numbers will exceed pre-pandemic levels next year. "Future is bright, industry is growing, guests are coming back, so we're all very happy," says Lutoff-Perlo. Cruise companies hemorrhaged tens of billions of dollars during the pandemic and now industry trade groups see the tides shifting.

Upcoming U.S.-Based MSC Cruise Ship Completes Sea Trials

Built at the Fincantieri shipyard in Italy, the MSC Seashore entered service in 2021. The ship is part of MSC Cruises’ Seaside Class, which includes four ships specially designed for cruising in warmer weather. Surrounded by the specialty restaurants, Wine and Cocktails is an ideal place for a drink while waiting for a table in one of the specialty dining venues, or the place to stop by for a glass of wine after dinner. Reserved exclusively for MSC Yacht Club Guests, this elegant lounge with its panoramic views offers the Yacht Club bar list of craft cocktails, beer, fine wine, soft drinks and coffee drinks. This elegant lounge equally offers a fine selection of gourmet finger food throughout the day.

The Marketplace Buffet & Restaurant is the regular choice for breakfast, lunch and dinner on any given day. It takes up more than half of Deck 19, so space is plentiful, and lines were never too long during our sailing. There is a fourth restaurant on Deck 8 tied to the main dining experience called the Skyline Restaurant. However, it is exclusive to passengers who book an Aurea-level cabin (which is the highest level of inclusivity outside of the dedicated MSC Yacht Club rooms and suites).

MSC Seaside

MSC Seashore is a new Seaside EVO-class cruise ship that will be operated by Swiss cruise line MSC Cruises. This new feature has not yet been revealed or detailed but hints towards an onboard Roller coaster and following in the footsteps of Carnival’s Mardi Gras that features the world’s first roller coaster at sea. There will also be regular favorites, including the exclusive MSC Yacht Club and a spectacular glass-floor bridge. This relaxing outdoor pool bar is dedicated to guests who have chosen the Aurea Experience. The exclusive bar menu features a variety of coladas, margaritas, long drinks, frozen delights andmany other refreshers. Deck 7 still houses the theater at the bow, leaving ample space for the Msc Signature Casino, which retains its central ellipsoidal bar but then changes position compared to its sister ships.

Passengers sailing on MSC Seascape are spoiled for choice when it comes to enjoying food and beverages. The ship offers 11 dining venues (counting the aforementioned option in the MSC Yacht Club), and 20 bars and lounges. The Long Island Pool on deck 18, the ship’s main pool, will have two different depths, a 360° water fountain island in the middle, and a new lounge space within the pool. It will be connected to the Pirate Cove theme aquapark, creating an extensive water area.

MSC Seascape Construction

The float-out of MSC Seashore was successfully completed at Fincantieri’s shipyard in Monfalcone, Italy, in August 2020. As vice president of newbuilding and refurbishment, Trevor Young is co-ordinating the 13 newbuilding projects that are currently part of MSC Cruises’ fleet expansion plan. Mr Young’s career started with him earning a diploma of business and hospitality management along with a certificate in hotel and catering management which led him to the cruise industry in 1996. Most of the cruises also feature a visit to Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve, the company’s private island destination in the Bahamas. The Sunset Beach Bar offers delicious Caribbean-style cocktails and punches, like Mojitos and frozen delights, as well as beer, mixed drinks, ciders, softs, fruit juices and alcohol-free cocktails. Ideally situated near the main dining room, this bar is a perfect place to join friends for an aperitif before a meal, or for an after-dinner shot, even vodka, whiskey or rum tastings.

Design and engineering

MIAMI - The cruise industry is recovering after the pandemic, rolling out a couple of dozen new ships this year. The new area will include a 27.5ft LED wall across four decks, projecting the iconic skyline of Times Square in Manhattan. Entertainment options will include a high-tech theatre, disco and casino, multi-storey water park and adventure trail, and kids’ play areas to be developed in partnership with LEGO and Chicco. The MSC Yacht Club is a ‘ship within a ship’ premium concept spanning 3,000m² across four decks with two new palatial Owner’s Suites.

The most significant novelty is at the stern, with the enthralling Boulevard du Cabaret that ends at Le Cabaret Rouge, a beautiful venue on two decks dedicated to live shows and musical entertainment. The 169,400 gross tons cruise ship will be sailing year-round from the cruise capital of the world, PortMiami. After her delivery from the shipyard in November, MSC Seascape will sail one transatlantic voyage from Civitavecchia to New York City.

It’s the ideal place for enjoying a great informal Mediterranean dining experience with a spectacular sea view. Visible kitchens and a Mozzarella-making area allow guests to watch our chefs preparing the fresh food. The extensive buffet area includes various multifunction corners serving international dishes, ethnic cuisine, healthy options and a multitude of other tastes.

Additionally, we noticed that the Americana motifs and entertainment options, while sometimes dated, appealed strongly to our fellow European passenger who had no issues seamlessly adapting the ship's public spaces to their back-home comforts. We had a similar experience at Chora Theatre, the 1,200-seat located on Decks 6 and 7 at the front of the ship. The venue itself is charming, with minimalist décor reminiscent of a Greek amphitheater, and feels more intimate than your average large cruise ship theater. Despite having different names and different decoration styles, the three restaurants in the main dining area offer the same menu.

Debuting at the Central Florida homeport, the MSC Cruises ship is poised to offer a series of cruises to the Bahamas and the Western Caribbean. MSC Cruises is not just leading the return of cruise operations in different parts of the world but also growing faster than any other cruise line. There are currently three vessels under construction and a total of 11 vessels ordered, including MSC Seascape.

MSC Seascape will be the newest MSC Cruise ship fully designed for the US cruise market, with MSC even going as far as calling her the US Flagship. She will be inaugurated and named at a special ceremony in New York City in December. Following its christening in New York, MSC Seascape will homeport in Miami, from where it's scheduled to sail Eastern and Western Caribbean voyages.

Yet MSC continues to consistently attract a very diverse audience, and English (and especially American English) was a distant fourth most spoken language, behind Italian, Spanish, French. To be fair, our transatlantic sailing originated in Rome (Civitavecchia) as a 17-day transatlantic crossing, so it stands to reason that most our fellow guests hailed from Europe. Even during daytime, the venue offers a cozy space to enjoy a drink, a game of cards or a good book. The 400-seat Le Cabaret Rouge is a fun, intimate venue, modeled after Paris' Moulin Rouge. The four-story Atrium, effectively the heart of the ship, is a continuous hotbed of entertainment, featuring live music and ensuring surrounding bars and lounges attracted a steady flow of visitors. With a large ship like MSC Seascape, the VIP treatment afforded by the MSC Yacht Club makes a world of difference.

On the highest decks, one notices first of all the return to a single buffet restaurant, already set up to be exclusively served and not self-service. The Marketplace occupies the rear half of deck 16, ending in the pool area and offering various lounges that lend a certain intimacy despite its considerable overall size. The 169,400 gross ton ship will be delivered to MSC Cruises in late November, and is scheduled to enter service this December, offering year-round seven-night Caribbean voyages from Miami. It will be the second MSC cruise ship to launch this year following MSC World Europa — also in December. An enhanced pool area and sundeck will offer 21,528 square feet of space, featuring a larger private pool and panoramic whirlpool with eight seats and individual jets. The ship’s expansive buffet will now include a new outdoor aft dining area as well as bar — the Sky Bar — which will enable passengers to enjoy their food outdoors or relax and unwind at the top of the ship in the evening.
